Recently many Ashford Taxi Drivers have joined the GMB Southern Region Professional Taxi Drivers Branch as they have many issues which affect their livelihoods. The developers of Ashford International Station have blatantly ignored their requests for the provision of adequate rank space in the new development. Currently they have been allocated four spaces which are totally unacceptable.  Government best practise guidance clearly states that Taxis as part of the transport infrastructure and as such should have adequate and prominent rank space at all transport hubs.  A meeting has been arranged with the developers. At a recent trade meeting council officers and the Chair of licensing agreed to give their support. The Chief Executive of Ashford Council has also been asked to contact the developers.
